Introducing Leo Smith – one of the best interns you’ll ever meet!
Introducing Leo Smith – one of the best interns in the pharmacy benefits management (PBM) space you’ll ever meet! Leo joined us this summer to help our Operations and Marketing teams with special projects. His aptitude for data and love of technology made him a great fit from day one. Let’s learn a little more about Leo …
Tell us about where you’re going to college in the fall and what you’ll be studying.
I’m going to UCLA in the fall, where I will be studying economics. I hope to get involved in community service there and join a few social clubs.
What types of projects have you been working on during your internship?
I’ve been working with the Operations department as well as with Marketing to study Google Analytics data, provide feedback on web site optimization, and help with competitive research. I’m also creating a series of internal videos that have helped boost morale going into the final months of a corporate-wide project.
What has been one of your favorite assignments?
One task that I particularly got a lot out of was when Rene Tangonan, VP of Business Integration had me read “Leaders: Myth and Reality” by General Stanley McChrystal. Rene has a military background and mentored me on the qualities of a great leader.
What has surprised you the most about working at IPM?
I have been pleasantly surprised by the support and flexibility that I have had to pursue projects that interest me.
What are you most proud of accomplishing so far?
I’m most proud of the leadership skills that I have had to demonstrate by leading the internal video campaign, and of the success that this series has already had in creating a positive sentiment surrounding a major initiative.
Any other comments?
The leadership skills and corporate experience that I have already gained will be the foundation of my future success in the business world and life in general. Thank you to everyone at IPM for being so welcoming; I am looking forward to this last month and a half of my internship!
